Silicone is naturally a little tacky. Gen4 changes that.
Gen4 mats and spikes undergo a proprietary post-production process that creates a silky-smooth surface. It’s not a coating or topical treatment that can wear off—the finish becomes an integral part of the silicone.
The result: less friction, less line drag and smoother line movement across the mat and spikes.
Gen4 also makes the move from casting to precision injection molding, giving us greater consistency, finer detail and improved durability.

So these mats are great for a few reasons. Yes they keep line on the deck of your boat and out of the water. That is essential when providing a laser beam double haul cast to an unsuspecting fish. Beyond that, I’m knot to the point of glueing stuff to my skiff yet. These mats leave no marks or residue when you toss them in a hatch.
And if that wasn’t enough the Gents over at SFC give ya a dry bag with every mat!!
Anyone who has traveled anywhere to fish outside the U.S. know they usually don’t have to much for ya except a beautiful fishery. This dry bag lets you take your mat around the world, providing the same great line mangament and helping to keep the inside of your luggage from smelling like the Sea.

I had a lot of skiffs and I put a lot of different Fly lines spikes on my boat. This product seems to be the best they are more rigid and go on the boat more easily the way they ask you to glue the product down is perfect it’s really strong. And clean if you wanted to remove or replace down the road it would be really easy and clean to do so. I highly recommend.

Fly Line Mat-30" (White/Seafoam)
Using the SFC mat on my paddleboard works great! Especially after I mixed some of the longer 3" spikes on the outer edges. This enables the mat to cach the line, especially if the wind is gusty.
I’ve owned many stripping mats over the years, and this is the best one I’ve used. It holds up against the elements, fits in a small storage bag (doesn’t have memory/curl) and is very functional up on the bow. Also, it lays flat and doesn’t get blown around in a stiff wind.
I’m very impressed with the design and quality of our new fly line mat. I’ve used other brands and this one is definitely an order of magnitude heavier duty and very thoughtfully designed with replaceable, varied length spikes. Still trying to decide on optimal placement of short and long spikes but even the short ones proved more than adequate to retain line on the mat and deck. Great product and happy to support a family business!

Absolutely love this product. I have used many of this line management mats, the basic problems that have existed have been, the line sticking to the material of the mat and spikes, the spikes being too tall or losing their shape, and the ability to store such a strange shaped item in the skiff, and the practicality of the shape of the mat. The shape and size makes perfect sense on the bow, whether or not you have a casting platform. The spikes are the right texture and height, stores easy and keeps its shape. Great product.

Having fished on Skiffs, that had the permanent teeth mounted around the front of the bow and a couple other mats that I tried in a rectangular shape, yours fits my need much better very good quality easy to put the teeth up through the mat solid mounting of the teeth the way you’ve got it and love the size of it the 3‘ x 3‘ x 3‘ in the triangular shape works fine for me around wherever I need it at the base of my Blacktip Fabrication emperor stool. Love your product!
