Our Story

Superflycomposites (SFC) is a family-owned business based in Naples, Florida. We started selling fly line management gear in September 2023, turning what began as a hobby and a shared passion for fly fishing into something neither of us could have imagined.

As I write this, we're entering our fourth year in business and releasing our Gen4 line of stripping mats—our best yet. But for me, the most rewarding part of this journey isn't the products we've created or how much the business has grown. It's getting to do all of this with my son, Mason.

After decades spent behind a desk,  traveling and being away from home, I've learned how valuable it is to find something you genuinely love doing with your kids. As they get older, life gets busy and time together becomes harder to come by. Fly fishing—and eventually SFC—gave Mason and me something we could share, build and enjoy together. I wouldn't trade that for anything.

And Mason definitely caught the bug.

Aside from being a vital part of SFC, he works at our local fly shop, 239 Flies, ties flies for some great clients, is finishing college, and recently earned his captain's license. Now Captain Mason gets to take people fishing, share a few of those secret spots, and actually get paid to do it. He works incredibly hard, and I'm very proud of the young man he's become.

Build It Right or Don't Build It

That relationship has shaped the philosophy behind SFC from the beginning.

When we started the company, Mason and I agreed on something simple: if we were going to do this, we'd make the best gear we possibly could. Otherwise, it wasn't worth doing.

That mindset has pushed us to improve our products year after year. Gen1 led to Gen2, then Gen3, and now Gen4. We're constantly testing, changing, refining and asking ourselves how we can make the next version better than the last.

Today, thousands of SFC mats are in service with anglers around the world, and we're incredibly proud that we've never had a warranty claim for a product failure. Just as important to us is how we take care of the
people who buy our gear. Together, those two things are reflected in a 4.98/5 customer rating, with every review independently verified.

I've always told Mason that we don't  have customers. We have clients.

There's a difference. A transaction ends when someone buys something. A relationship doesn't. If you have a question, a problem, an idea or simply want to talk fishing, you'll hear back from us. That's how we want SFC to operate no matter how large the business becomes.

Growing Without Compromising

One of the biggest decisions we've made came this year when we moved our manufacturing to an outside production partner.

The reason was simple: we had reached the point where we couldn't make enough gear ourselves to continue growing.

Making that transition was anything but simple. It took more than a year of work, testing, refinement and attention to countless details to make sure the products coming out the other side met our standards.

The result is Gen4.

Moving to precision manufacturing has allowed us to improve the product while giving SFC the capacity to serve more anglers around the world. More importantly, it gives Mason and me the opportunity to spend less time simply trying to keep up with production and more time doing what we enjoy most—developing better gear, experimenting with new ideas and figuring out what comes next.

We're just getting started.

Most of all, we're grateful.
